Everyone loves free stuff. As soon as you let me loose at any conventions/exhibitions/trade shows. All that free merch you’re offering? It’s coming home with me.

Now, this is great for a business – because now I’ve got something to keep you at the forefront of my mind, right? I couldn’t possibly forget your business now that I have this –

 

Mug?

 

Ah, one of those. Whilst I do appreciate your company assisting in my borderline concerning coffee addiction - here’s why I don’t care the way I should about your new merch;

 

The reason you purchased your promotional merchandise in the first place, was likely to

make people remember your company.

 

Looking at a mug might make me think – ‘I could use a coffee’,but unless you’re a coffee bean supplier - it isn’t getting me in the business mindset.

 

Your mug is going back in my cupboard. Your pen is going back in the pot - surrounded by a plethora of other promotional pens, and I don’t trust your promotional USB enough to use it to store anything of value.

 

Into the draw it goes.

 

So how then, do you do promotion merchandise the right way?

 

Be lovable, be comforting, be creative, be memorable!
